Subsidy for protection against burglary

As a home owner, you apply for a subsidy to help protect your home against burglary with materials that meet the Politiekeurmerk Veilig Wonen (PKVW, Police Quality Label Safe Living).

Subsidy

The Almere Municipality offers a subsidy to help secure your home. This is about safety precautions that are performed by companies with a PKVW-keurmerk. An example of this would be better and sturdier locks. You can earn back half of the expenses, up to a maximum of €400.

You can apply for a subsidy for:

  • The costs of PKVW-measures, such as hinges and locks, that you have installed by a PKVW-certified company.
  • The costs for the PKVW certificate or statement. These are added to the costs of security measures.

The total budget for 2025 is €75,000. Once this budget has been spent, you will no longer be able to apply for a subsidy. The subsidy is awarded to people who applied first. Your application only counts if we received a fully completed form.

Who can apply for this subsidy?

You can only apply for this subsidy if you are the owner of a home that you live in. You can not apply for this subsidy on behalf of a Homeowner's Association (VvE, Vereniging van Eigenaren).

As a tenant, you cannot apply for this subsidy at the municipality. There is a separate arrangement for housing corporations in Almere. Ask your housing corporation what your options are.

PKVW certified companies

You can find PKVW certified companies at the Centre for Cime Prevention. For Almere, this is Roest and HBC. The subsidy can only be applied for if you hire and let a PKVW recognised company perform these services.

Application

You can apply for the subsidy after you have carried out all the necessary security measures. The security measures have to be performed by and installed by a PKVW certified company. Please follow the following steps for your application:

  1. Request a legal tender and a prevention advice with inspection report.
  2. Decide whether or not you wish to have the PKVW measures carried out and issue an order for these services. You can also have a part of the measures be carried out by another party.
You will receive a certificate if all the PKVW measures were carried out or if you have a statement that shows when you will carry out these measures.
  3. An inspection report should have all the costs necessary for carrying out the PKVW measures. These are the costs for working hours and for materials that meet the quality standards as defined in the PKVW handbook. An inspection report has to be drawn up by a company with PKVW certifications.
  4. After the implementation of the security measures, you will receive the bill from the PKVW certified company. For a certificate or statement, you will need a review and approval by the security company.

Apply for the subsidy within 3 months after you received the bill. You will need to use your DigiD account in order to apply for the subsidy. Make sure to have the following ready:

  1. The bill and the prevention advice with inspection report.
  2. The certificate or a statement Veilig Wonen (Safe Living).
